This Weeks #VegasArtistSpotlight: Jeff Mix – Freemont Street
Las Vegas Americana artist, Jeff Mix and his band The Songhearts, are going to have a busy 2016. They’re set to release an album and movie, Lost. Vegas. Hiway., It’s basically a concept album about different guests at a dive motel. The songs will deepen the characters and the characters deepen the songs.
Jeff Mix is a full time real estate agent in Las Vegas who ended up with a conman for a client. A couple days in the car with him and finding out everything he said was a lie, spurred the idea of writing the songs. “I was amazed how he could look you in the eye and lie so well. It was very impressive. I Think the only truth he told me, was he liked the Eagles.” The project grew into a life of it’s own. Mix said,”The local community, friends, artists, actors, locations and crew have just been amazing with the heart and time they have donated to bringing this project to fruition.” The goal, is to have the film accepted and premiere at SXSW film festival in March 2016 in Austin, TX. Then hit as many film festivals between that and the Americana Fest in Sept 2016, which takes place in Nashville. Hopefully this film will help shine some light on all of the fantastic songwriters and artists that we have, on our little desert island, we call Las Vegas.
